Privacy Policy
Last Updated: February 14, 2025
We built IeGet because web application security matters. And we know your privacy matters just as much. This policy walks you through exactly what data we collect, why we need it, and what we do with it.
Who We Are
IeGet operates as an educational platform focused on web application security training. We're based at 630 Hollywood Dr, Jackson, TN 38301, United States. When you interact with our services at ie-get.com, you're trusting us with certain information. We take that seriously.
This policy applies to anyone who visits our website, enrolls in our programs, or communicates with us. It covers all the ways we might handle your personal data.
Information We Collect
Let's be straightforward about what we gather. We only collect what helps us deliver educational services or improve your experience.
Information You Give Us Directly
When you register for programs or reach out to us, you provide details like your name, email address, phone number, and sometimes payment information. If you're creating an account, we'll ask for login credentials. For certain advanced courses, we might request information about your professional background to tailor the content.
Automatically Collected Data
Our systems log technical information when you browse our site. This includes IP addresses, browser types, device information, and which pages you visit. We use standard cookies and similar tracking to keep sessions active and understand how people navigate through our content.
Educational Progress Information
Once you're enrolled in a program, we track your progress through modules, quiz results, lab completion rates, and time spent on various sections. This helps us provide meaningful feedback and ensure you're getting value from the training.
How We Use Your Information
Everything we collect serves specific purposes. We don't gather data just for the sake of it.
- Delivering educational content and managing your enrollment in security training programs
- Processing payments and maintaining accurate billing records
- Sending course updates, schedule changes, and important platform announcements
- Providing technical support when you run into issues
- Improving our curriculum based on how students interact with materials
- Maintaining platform security and preventing unauthorized access
- Meeting legal obligations under applicable education and data protection laws
We don't sell your personal information to third parties. Period. Our business model is straightforward: we provide security education, and you pay for that education. Your data isn't part of any side hustle.
Legal Basis for Processing
Under data protection laws, we need legitimate reasons to process your information. Here's what applies:
- Contract Performance: Most processing happens because we need it to deliver the educational services you signed up for
- Legitimate Interests: We process some data to improve our platform, prevent fraud, and maintain security
- Legal Obligations: Certain data handling is required by tax laws, education regulations, and consumer protection statutes
- Consent: For optional activities like marketing communications, we ask for your explicit permission first
Sharing and Disclosure
We keep your information within our organization most of the time. But there are situations where we need to share it with carefully selected partners.
Service Providers
We work with third-party companies that help run our platform. This includes payment processors, email delivery services, cloud hosting providers, and analytics tools. These partners are bound by contracts that restrict how they can use your data. They're only allowed to process it for the specific services they provide to us.
Legal Requirements
If we receive a valid legal request from law enforcement or government authorities, we may need to disclose certain information. We'll resist overly broad requests and only provide what's legally required. In cases involving potential harm or security threats, we might share relevant data with appropriate authorities.
Business Transfers
If IeGet is acquired or merges with another company, your information would likely transfer as part of that transaction. We'd notify you before any such transfer and explain how the new entity plans to handle your data.
Your Privacy Rights
You're not powerless here. Data protection laws give you meaningful control over your personal information.
Access and Portability
You can request a copy of all personal data we hold about you. We'll provide it in a structured, commonly used format. If you want to move your data to another service, we'll help make that happen where technically feasible.
Correction and Updates
If information we have is wrong or outdated, let us know. You can update most details through your account settings. For other corrections, contact us at support@ie-get.com and we'll make the changes promptly.
Deletion and Erasure
You can request deletion of your account and associated data. We'll comply unless we're legally required to retain certain records. For example, financial transaction data needs to be kept for tax purposes. Even after deletion, some information might remain in backup systems for up to 90 days.
Marketing Opt-Out
You can unsubscribe from promotional emails anytime using the link in those messages. You'll still receive essential transactional emails about your enrollment and account.
Exercising Your Rights
To make any of these requests, email support@ie-get.com with "Privacy Rights Request" in the subject line. We'll verify your identity and respond within 30 days. There's no fee for reasonable requests, though we might charge for excessive or repetitive inquiries.
Data Security Measures
We're a security education company, so we practice what we teach. Our infrastructure uses industry-standard protections.
- All data transmissions use TLS encryption to prevent interception
- Passwords are hashed using strong algorithms and never stored in plain text
- Our databases are encrypted at rest and access is strictly controlled
- We conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments
- Staff access to personal data is limited based on role requirements
- We maintain incident response procedures for potential data breaches
That said, no system is completely invulnerable. We can't guarantee absolute security, but we commit to reasonable and appropriate safeguards given the sensitivity of the data we handle.
Data Retention
We don't keep information longer than necessary. Different types of data have different retention schedules.
- Account information: Retained while your account is active, plus 3 years after closure for support purposes
- Educational records: Kept for 7 years to verify completion and provide transcripts
- Financial data: Maintained for 7 years to comply with tax and accounting regulations
- Marketing data: Removed within 30 days of opt-out request
- Technical logs: Deleted after 90 days unless needed for security investigations
International Data Transfers
IeGet operates primarily in the United States. If you're accessing our services from outside the US, your data will be transferred to and processed on servers located within the United States. US privacy laws differ from regulations in the European Union, UK, and other jurisdictions.
We implement appropriate safeguards for international transfers, including standard contractual clauses where required. By using our services, you acknowledge and consent to this cross-border data processing.
Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to make our platform work properly. Some are essential, others help us understand usage patterns.
Essential Cookies
These keep you logged in, remember your preferences, and ensure security features function correctly. You can't opt out of these without losing basic functionality.
Analytics Cookies
We use analytics tools to track how people navigate our site and interact with content. This helps us identify confusing sections and improve the learning experience. You can disable these through your browser settings, though it might limit some personalization features.
Managing Cookie Preferences
Most browsers let you control cookies through their settings. You can block or delete cookies, though doing so might affect your ability to use certain features. Check your browser's help documentation for specific instructions.
Children's Privacy
Our services are designed for adults pursuing professional development in cybersecurity. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we discover we've inadvertently gathered data from a minor, we'll delete it promptly.
If you believe someone under 18 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at support@ie-get.com so we can address the situation.
Changes to This Policy
We update this policy periodically as our practices evolve or laws change. When we make significant modifications, we'll notify you via email or through a prominent notice on our platform. The date at the top of this document shows when it was last revised.
We encourage you to review this policy occasionally. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
California Privacy Rights
If you're a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you additional rights. You can request details about the categories of personal information we collect, the purposes for collection, and the categories of third parties we share with.
California residents can also request that we not sell personal information. As mentioned earlier, we don't sell personal data to anyone, so this right is already honored by default. You can exercise CCPA rights using the same contact methods described in the "Your Privacy Rights" section.
